A lovely first day looking around Helsinki 🇫🇮 , we visited the observatory and talked about the history of Finland. The building we are stood outside is the Helsinki Cathedral but who can tell me what statue is on the square outside?

Thank you boys and girls for all your comments on the last post. Well I have arrived in Finland (Helsinki/Espoo to be precise). Got to the airport at around 3 o’clock yesterday and departed Cardiff at 5. With a little stop in Amsterdam we arrived in Helsinki at 00:25 (10:25pm St Florence time). So the plan of action for today is a little bit of exploring putting the finishing touches to my presentation for this week and trying to learn some key Finnish phrases.

It seems like an age ago that I applied for the opportunity to take part in this trip and I remember the excitement that I felt when I found out that I had been accepted as a part of the Portal learning group. Over the past few weeks the excitement (and nerves) have grown as I am about to leave. I will keep you updated with my experiences and am looking forward to replies and comments to my posts.
